Peek-A-Boo Birthday Card

Hello Blog Land!

Anyone out there? (Dusting cobwebs away from my blog!!)

It's been a LONG time since I last blogged. Oops! I hope there are still friends here to share my love of cards. ^_^

Today I am going to share a card which I long wanted to make, but due to lack of tools I keep putting it off. As it looks so amazing, I just had to try, improvise and create! The idea came from this Double Peek a Boo card with Dawn YouTube video clip. This is a great tutorial, easy to understand. So here is my double Peek-A-Boo card. Made especially for my lovely colleague Amanda.

Here is a close up of the front image: A cute little cup cake (from Papermania) and a sweet koala bear sitting on a pile of gifts (The Wild Ones- birthday collection free from Quick Cards magazine). Both have been stamped, coloured by Copic marker pens and then decorated with glittery Stickles!

Here comes the magic part. When you open the card, another image pops out in front of the original image. Oooohhhh.... how exciting!

This is what it looks like when you fully open the card. The text messages that show up say Just for you (from Papermania) and Happy Birthday (Special Occasion Stamps free from Cardmaking & Papercraft magazine). Isn't it fantastic?
As there is no extra space inside the card, I added a piece of patterned paper to the back of the card for writing my own message to the recipient.
In the video tutorial it explains that you need a 1 3/8" circle punch. As I didn't have one, I used a circle die, which is slightly larger in size. This was a big mistake! The circular apertures are too big and so, inadvertently, reveal the "secret". It took me a while to try to fix this mistake. Not good! I think I will need to invest in a 1 3/8" circle punch. It will mean making this card correctly and easily!! Hee hee! ^o^ Is that a good excuse to buy more craft items?!

Found a couple of challenges to enter:
I hope you like this card. I had loads of fun making it and, apparently, many of my colleagues were checking out the card to see how it works! ^_^ Have a nice day!

Thank you so much for stopping by. Your comments are always appreciated. ^_^
