It's Fairy Dust!!

I won a few digital images from The Stamping Chef a while ago. When it was my good friend and ex colleague Amanda's birthday the other day, I just had to make her a birthday card with this Fairy Dust image. We have such a fun time at work and Manda always makes me laugh. Also, I never knew any British person that loves Chinese/ Japanese/ Taiwanese food so much!! I always said that she was born in the wrong country because she never really likes any British food! So here is the card:
Manda has a great sense of humour and I just knew this card would make her smile!
To achieve the colour effect on the embossing piece, I simply applied blue ink on one side of the Cuttlebug D'vine Swirl embossing folder first before I embossing it on a white piece of card. This is just another great fun way of using your embossing folder. You will be able to find this technique easily on YouTube. Here is an example.
The image was coloured in by using Copic Ciao marker pens.  For extra shine, Crystal Stickle glitter glue was added on the fairy wings and Glossy Accents and a little bit of pink glitter were applied on the "Fairy Dust"!

I was inspired by using the below sketch from Friday Sketch Challenge #76. I wanted to keep the diamond shape in the middle but also wanted to add some interest to the image. So I fuzzy cut some parts of the fairy image which stick out of the diamond shape. Then, I attached the fairy image to the card by using foam tapes, which created an extra dimension.
I hope you like this card. Well, I certainly do. No matter how many times I look at it, it just makes me giggle!! ^_^

Hope to see you soon with another card again.

Simon Says... Summer Vacation: Kid's Challenge (Part 3)

Hello!

Hope you all had a great weekend. It's Bank Holiday here today in the UK. The weather is awful. Raining, raining, raining!! But we managed to complete all our shopping for back to school. Not long now, school will start this Thursday and my girls are nervous and excited!! New school, new teachers and I am sure they will be just fine!

Before the summer holiday finishes, I would like to share another card from my eldest daughter- Aimee. She would like to be a part of the Summer Vacation: Kid's Challenge at Simon Says Stamp again.

So here is her card creation:
She made this card for her friend Dania's birthday. They had a great time at the party with Karaoke, Piñata and making Loom Bands! I like her choice of stamp images and those butterfly stickers. Her colouring has improved. She has started to understand shadows and light, which she clearly demonstrates in these images.
I also love how she uses slightly different shades to create the pattern on the dog. Love this card!
Thank you for stopping by and hope you will leave her an encouraging comment and suggestions. She would love to hear from you! ^_^

You're dino-mite!

Hello there!

Happy Wednesday~ Half way through the week. Not long till the weekend again! ^_^

My little family just had a short holiday break in Manchester and Blackpool. We had a great time! LEGOLAND Discovery Centre, Blackpool Tower, circus, beach, donkey ride... we certainly packed everything in a short period. It was so hard when it was time to go home. Just didn't want the holiday to end! Boo hoo! smileys Well, it's back to reality and I guess we will just have to go on another holiday soon!!

I made this card a couple of weeks ago for my good friend Erin's little boy- Finley. I am glad that the card arrived safely in Taiwan and Finley received it yesterday, one day before his birthday!! (Yeah! For once, my card wasn't late!!)
For this card, I used Lawn Fawn's Stitched Journaling Card die, Critters from the Past stamp set  (T-Rex, rocks and sentiments) and Beep Boop Birthday stamp set (presents and balloons). I do not own the Speech Bubble Border die but this can be easily achieved by simply hand cutting a curved line and a pointer, as I did here.
To add some interest, I used cotton black thread for the balloon strings and tied them on the T-Rex's tail. Hope you like this card!

Happy Birthday, Finley! Hope you had a great day!

I would also like to take part in Make the Day Special August Colour Challenge- Colour Scheme B:
Thanks for visiting and see you soon!

Simon Says... Summer Vacation: Kid's Challenge (Part 2)

Hi there!

Following my previous post here about Aimee's card entry in the Simon Says Stamp- Summer Vacation: Kid's Challenge, my little girl Jasmine wanted to join in too!

So here is her card design:
Jasmine used one of the stamps from The Greeting Farm: Miss Anya Collection set. I really like the colours she chose for the image- blue, red and yellow. (Next time, I have to try this colour combination myself!! ^_^) With a little help to cut the papers to the correct size, Jasmine, aged 8, managed to assemble the card together herself. I think this card is beautiful!

If you managed to drop by, please leave a comment for Jasmine as she will love to hear from you. It is great to encourage kids these days to craft. Also, it is something fun that me and the girls can all enjoy together this summer holiday!!

Simon Says... Summer Vacation: Kid's Challenge (Part 1)

Hello all!

It's that time of the year again! Simon Says Stamp is hosting a Summer Vacation: Kids' Challenge throughout August. This is a special challenge for young designers age between 2 and 16 inclusive.
So here is my eldest daughter Aimee's first entry:
She made this birthday card for a very good friend of hers. As Aimee is now 11 years old, I can simply leave her with all my craft items and just let her get on with her design. For this card, she used Lawn Fawn's Let's Roll stamp set. I particularly like the layout and the background paper she picked. Also, all those happy faces that she added, it just makes you smile!! ^_^

Thanks for stopping by and please do leave a message for Aimee as I am sure that she will love to hear all your suggestions and comments.

Summer Apron Shape Card

Hi everyone!

Don't you just love summer?! Although we had a few rainy days here and there, a majority of the time it has been beautiful sunny days!! I just love the fact that it is warm and I can simply go out without a coat or jacket.  Also, what could be more exciting and fun than inviting friends over to have a barbeque in the garden so I made this invitation card in an apron shape:
I tried to make it not too girly so that it can be for both male and female. For the apron shape, I simply took a plain white card and folded it at the top. Then, I used a CD to draw a curved line on both sides and cut these out.
To make the little pocket at the front, I simply adhered foam tape on 3 sides of a small card. This leaves an opening for the tag where you can add all the party details on it.
Here is a closer look of the card. I used scrap papers, hand cut various pieces and assembled the skewer, burger and fork together by using a small amount of glue. Then, the words were stamped by using white ink. Blue eyelets were also used so that ribbons could be threaded through.
Of course, with this card, I will join in Virginia's View Challege #6: Shape Card. This is a fun challenge. It is great to break away from the usual square or rectangular cards. There is something unique about shape cards!! Love them!!  ^_^
Edited: How can I forget??!! As I used some scrap papers (snippets) on this card, I would also like to take this card to Pixie's Snippets Playground - Week 136. Thanks Di for reminding me! Playmates, here I come!! ^_^

Have a lovely evening. Weekend will be here soon! Yippee~
