Happy New Year~ Oh Happy Day!

Hello everyone!

I am here today with a quick post to wish you a very happy New Year! May your 2016 be better and filled with lots of love and prosperity!

Here is my card to celebrate this happy day!! ^_^

I used an old Lawn Fawn stamp set Hello Sunshine for this card. I think I need more practice on using the distress ink for the background. It just looks a bit patchy! Boo~

I white embossed all clouds and sentiment. Used lots of snippets of pattern papers and hand cut all the little flags. These birds are just so sweet. They are stamped, coloured in by using Copic Ciao marker pens and propped up by using foam squares.

Happy New Year!

Hello there!

Hope you all had a great Christmas and a very happy new year!

I was busy preparing Christmas and New Year and didn't have the chance to blog much in December. However, I am here today with my first card and first blog post for 2015!

 My new year's day was quiet and relaxing and I was in the mood for card making. So I decided to make a new year card to wish everyone a "Happy New Year! May your 2015 be better and filled with love and prosperity!" 

 

I just loved this Pandamonium stamp set from Mama Elephant. These pandas are just so cute! I've also used the little sparkler stamp from Mama Elephant's In My Heart set, but only inked the tip to create the colourful fireworks. The stand alone Happy Script die, also from Mama Elephant, has the most beautiful font. It just makes the card look so elegant!

These Pandas were fuzzy cut and then attached by using foam pads.
To make all lanterns shine, Stickles glitter glue has been applied.  

"new year" stamp is from The Big, the Bold and the Happy set by Winnie & Walter.
This has been stamped and heat embossed in white.

This card was inspired by using the sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch #104. I flipped the sketch 180 degrees.

Happy Chinese New Year

Hello all!

Happy Chinese New Year! ^_^

Oh My God! I can't believe what I just saw. My flip card has made the Top 3 Winners at crafts 4 eternity for the R#160~ Tic Tac Toe challenge. Woo hoo! I made it! This is the first time I've made it to the top 3 on a card challenge blog. I am so happy! Now this is a good start to the year of the horse! I hate to brag about it (as I bet a lot of you out there win challenges all the time) but I am just so excited and had to make a point of it!! Hee hee! So, from now on, this badge will be proudly displayed at the side bar of my blog.

Top 3 winner at Crafts 4 eternity challenge

Well, since it is Chinese New Year today, what about a Chinese new year's card?

No stamping on this card. The tree braches are done by blowing wet paint, through a straw. How many of you remembered this game as a child? Trying to create an image by blowing the paint around. You never know what picture you might end up with! Love it! I use flower punch for the cherry blossoms and hand drew the details. I also used Memory Box Meadow Leaf Die, by Poppy Stamps Craft, to die cut the leaves and then cut each individual leaf out to stick to the branch.

Two lanterns were cut by free hand out of Japanese Washi paper. These papers are so beautiful! Black card strips were cut for the top and bottom of the lantern and then decorated with Liquid Pearls. Finally, I added the tassels and used 3D foam to prop them up on the card base. Here is a close up look:

 

The sentiment was typed and printed from my computer. So, what do you think? Hope you like it.

Year of Rabbit

Happy Chinese New Year everyone!

It will be the Year of the Rabbit this year. Just for fun, here is some information I found online for Rabbit year 2011:

"Chinese Horoscope for 2011

There are many famous people born in the year of The Rabbit such as Angelina Jolie, Albert Einstein, Tiger Woods and Frank Sinatra etc. As per 2011 Chinese horoscope, 2011 is going to be relatively calmer than the last year, both on the world scene, as well as on a personal level. Those people who are born in other compatible Chinese zodiac signs will also find 2011 very productive and fulfilling. These signs compatible with the rabbit are – the sheep, the dog and the pig. So here I am to share the card I made for my family:

Funnily enough... although I am Chinese, from Taiwan, I've never made an oriental card before. This is actually the first time! I think I have not done it too bad huh?! ^_^ I am pretty lucky to be fluent in Mandarin and know how to write Chinese characters. So I do not need to rely on using peel offs or stamps for Chinese words. I've used the traditional red and gold colours with a bit of black. Made a little firecracker and a gold tassel at the end. It looks like the firecraker is lit.... watch out, cover your ears and wait for them to go BANG!! ^_^ Hee hee!
