Happy 11th Birthday!

Hi Peeps!

Can you believe this? My little baby girl, Aimee, turned 11 last Wednesday. Time just flies (and too quickly)!!

I had a very busy weekend trying to get cupcakes and party bags ready for the birthday party on Sunday. According to my daughter it was the greatest party ever!! They all had fun and my preparations were worth it. ^_^

Although the birthday and the party are now over, I thought I should still share some crafty creations I made for this event. Today, I will show you the birthday card first.

Cupcakes are a must for birthdays these days. Don't those cupcakes look yummy?! The image is coloured by using Copic Ciao marker pens. The background cupcake pattern paper was two strips of offcuts from my snippets box. Then, I used "red ladder" washi tape to cover the joint. The scalloped oval shaped die cut is also a piece which was left over from making the invitations. All these bits and pieces of "scrap" just come in handy sometimes. I will be happily bringing this card with me to Pixies Snippets Playground - Week 111.

Here are the views from the side and close up.

To create some shine and interest, crystal Stickles is added to the image and blue Liquid Pearls is added around the scalloped oval shape.

For this card I have used the sketch from Seize the Sketch #13. If you are interested in having a go, here is the sketch. I have turned the sketch 90 degrees to the left for my card.

I will be back soon to share some other items I made for Aimee's birthday. Have a nice evening!

Happy Chinese New Year

Hello all!

Happy Chinese New Year! ^_^

Oh My God! I can't believe what I just saw. My flip card has made the Top 3 Winners at crafts 4 eternity for the R#160~ Tic Tac Toe challenge. Woo hoo! I made it! This is the first time I've made it to the top 3 on a card challenge blog. I am so happy! Now this is a good start to the year of the horse! I hate to brag about it (as I bet a lot of you out there win challenges all the time) but I am just so excited and had to make a point of it!! Hee hee! So, from now on, this badge will be proudly displayed at the side bar of my blog.

Well, since it is Chinese New Year today, what about a Chinese new year's card?

No stamping on this card. The tree braches are done by blowing wet paint, through a straw. How many of you remembered this game as a child? Trying to create an image by blowing the paint around. You never know what picture you might end up with! Love it! I use flower punch for the cherry blossoms and hand drew the details. I also used Memory Box Meadow Leaf Die, by Poppy Stamps Craft, to die cut the leaves and then cut each individual leaf out to stick to the branch.

Here is a picture taken from the side.

Two lanterns were cut by free hand out of Japanese Washi paper. These papers are so beautiful! Black card strips were cut for the top and bottom of the lantern and then decorated with Liquid Pearls. Finally, I added the tassels and used 3D foam to prop them up on the card base. Here is a close up look:

The sentiment was typed and printed from my computer. So, what do you think? Hope you like it.

I will also be entering this card in this weeks challenge on crafts 4 eternity: R#161~ Oriental Theme.

Have a good weekend!

p.s. For those of you from Taiwan or interested in Chinese, a step by step instruction on how to make this card, written by myself, is published in this craft book in Taiwan on October 2013.

You're So Sweet!

Hello Peeps!

Happy Belated New Year!!

Long time no see! I think I had a long enough holiday from blogging, don't you think?! ^_^ Once I have a little break from blogging, it is so hard to get back into it. I am just being lazy. But now I am picking myself up and I am determined to get back to sharing my creations with you all again! Go!

So for my first card of year 2014, on this blog, I present you a birthday flip card. (I have to warn you, it's loaded with pictures on this post!)

I believe many of you are familiar with flip cards. However, if you've not seen one before here is what it looks like when the card is slightly open by pulling towards the left.

As you pull towards the left the rectangular card in the middle flips over to the other side to reveal another image. Isn't this clever?! Just loving it!

Here are a couple of close-up photos.
Stamped image at the front: Cats making cake

Stamped image when it flips to the other side: Ta da! Here is the cake!
I absolutely love this card and it is on its way already to a good friend of mine in Taiwan. Just hope it will arrive in time for her birthday. Finally, for an extra treat, here is a short video showing the card in action. This will give you a better idea on how the flip card works.

I hope you enjoyed this post and I promise I will be back very soon!
