10 Minute Craft Dash #25 - Second Round!!

Hi ya!

After previously spending nearly 20 minutes on my jar of stars card (see here), I was determined to have another go at the 10 Minute Craft Dash #25 challenge.

I love Lawn Fawn's Summertime Charm stamp set so I decided to use it again. I've used the colour pallet set from the challenge blog and planned it really carefully. I was thinking how I should create the card without fiddling too much so that I don't spend forever making it. And here it is- a jar of sea, sand and starfishes.

A good plan always helps. This time it took me 9 minutes and 28 seconds!! Thanks to the coordinating dies I can cut the jar out and make two starfishes in no time. Here is another look from the side.

I hand torn, layered and stuck my papers first, but made them in a much bigger size so each paper would be wider than the jar itself. Once done, I stamped the jar image on top of the layered papers and then just cut inside the stamped line. Voila~ your perfect size layered paper fits snuggly at the bottom of the jar! For the starfish, I simply used the star shaped die and yellow paper then used fine black pen to draw dotted lines.

Once the sand, sea and starfishes are done, the rest is easy. Stamped the sentiment. A bit of washi tape, twine, glitter glue and gem stones. There you have it! A cute jar of the sea side. (I think I am trying to hold on to summer!! ^_^)

I hope you like the card and thanks for stopping by.

(note: the paint chips are also known as paint swatches here in North America..basically they are the FREE samples at the paint shops!!) Today I was on a creative overdrive...I actually made 5 cards with those paint samples!!)

  8. Hi Julie,

Now how did I miss that you had started blogging again! So sorry I've haven't commented on your other cards - I've had a bit of time out from blogland - total loss of inspiration and time over the school summer holidays!

This card is just fab - I love the clean lines and graphic look. And you made it under 10 minutes!!! I can't make a card in less than a day!!!

PS - Ombre, according to Google, is a trend for hair and nails where you have one colour at the top that fades into another colour at the bottom. Hence her purple / pink hair - I took my inspiration for a picture of painted nails.
