Your're the Best, Mum!

Happy Wednesday!

I can't believe that I am here blogging again. Three days in a row. Let's hope that I can keep this up!!

Why can't the whole universe celebrate Mother's Day (and Father's Day) on the same day? Where I come from, in Taiwan, we celebrate Mother's Day on the 2nd Sunday of May. Here in the U.K, Mother's Day falls on the fourth Sunday in Lent. Then when I googled more, I noticed that there are a whole bunch of dates that people celebrate in different countries. So for being a mother of two sweet daughters, if I travel around the world, I could be forever celebrating Mother's Day which I don't think I will complain!! Hee hee! ^_^

As Mother's Day is approaching in Taiwan, I made this card for my best mum!

Due to the long distance, around 9771 kilometres or 6072 miles between Leicester and Taipei, I don't get to see my mum often but we sure do talk to each other every weekend. She loves patch work. She is so good with fabrics and she makes all sort of things from cute stuffed toys, quilts to bags. Gosh! Just got to show you her latest creation. I am a huge Hello Kitty fan. Isn't this bag cute?! My sister got hold of the bag now. But mum promised to make another one for me so I am waiting patiently.

Umm... Now back to the card. As my mum enjoys patch work, I used fabric on my card too. These are small out of date fabric samples which I received from a colleague of mine who enjoys patch work too. Here is a side shot of the card:

I added some buttons. Then I stamped a sewing machine and a floss bobbin. These images were fuzzy cut and attached on card with foam pads. I love the sentiment, as she is the best mum!! Here is a closer shot of the card where you can see the texture of the card clearer:

I am also entering this card to the below two challenge blogs.

OK, that's it for now. Hope my card will arrive in time for Mother's Day and my mum will like the card as much as I do! Have a good day!

  5. Hi Julie, oooh that is such a pretty card - love how you've managed to tie it in to your mum's hobby.

Fabulous cards in the posts before as well, I'm such a bad blogger at the moment and so behind with my commenting - it will take me to Christmas next year to catch up!!!

Did you ask me where I got my Promarker storage from? I know someone did but I appear to have deleted the comment. If you were asking they are test tube holders and I got them from here:

  6. Hi Julie, me again - yes the test tube storage is a good idea isn't it? Not my idea though, unfortunately, it was posted by someone in a Facebook group I'm in called 'Passion for Promarkers'. She was very kind for sharing as it saved me a fortune in storage.

    Hope you are keeping well,
    Sarah
